Abstract: 

Identification and introduction of flora in each region is important and useful for other scientific projects. Up to the percent there has not been no complete studies concerning the Qazvin flora: Lamiaceae family. This project has carried out during 1995 -2006. To contact the research, plants were collected during the growth seasons in different years.Results showed that Lamiaceae in Qazvin include 30 genera and 84 species. Salvia, Stachys and Nepeta with 17, 10 and 8 species were the most genera in respect of number of species respectively.Life forms of the plant species include: Hemichrophytes 63.5%, thorophytes 22.4%, chamaephytes 9.4% and geophytes 4.7%. From the view point of regional elements plants of this region include: 45.88% Irano-Touranian, 40% Irano-Touranian and Europe-Siberian, 9.41% Irano-Touranian and Europe-Siberian and Mediterranean, 3.52% Irano-Touranian and Mediterranean, and 1.17% cosm determined. More than 70% of species were aromatic plants. Thymus, Ziziphora, Melissa and Dracocephalum were the most important of medicinal plants. Moluccella laevis was the rarely specie of Qazvin province that only distribution in limited area.

Abstract: 

According to national project of "identification and ecological investigation of Aromatic plants" collection and identification of Lamiaceae family Aromatic plants in different regions of Yazd province were done. Then the ecological parameters of different plantations such as pedology, latitude, altitude, slope direct, slope percentage, annual precipitation and mean temperature, climate, dominant species, companion species and the best habitat with respect to abundance and density were recorded. The results showed, out of 71 aromatic plant species, 34 belonged to 15 genera related to Lamiaceae family. The important genera are Nepeta with 9 species and Salvia with 7 species. Biological forms of species include: Hemichryptophytes 52.9%, Cryptophytes 11.8%, Therophytes 20.6%, Chamaephytes 11.8% and phanerophytes 2.9%. Hemichryptophytes have the most evential biological form. Most of these species are in high and mountainous areas.

Abstract: 

The research investigated the antioxidant and cytotoxicity potentials of four medicinal plants from the Lamiaceae family, including Marrubium vulgare L., Vitex agnus-castus L., Phlomis olivieri Benth., and Nepeta ucranica L. The study evaluated the extracts' cytotoxicity by analyzing the mitotic index in onion root tip meristematic regions and cell viability in green algae Dunaliella salina. The findings indicated that P. olivieri and V. agnus-castus exhibited more significant antioxidant potential, but compared to the other, N. ucranica showed the lowest potential. The mitotic indices in the onion root tip's meristematic region and vulgar aqueous extract decreased with some increase in the extract concentrations of all studied plants. Additionally, the number of cells in various mitotic phases decreased, whatever cells in interphase increased in the treatment, and D. salina experienced a decrease in the number of cells with an increase in extract concentration. The study also observed a decline in the number of cells in the algal suspension with growth in extract concentration, particularly when exposed to V. agnus-castus extract. However, medicinal plants with high antioxidant potential are used in prevention, and various treatments with caution are advised due to their observed cytotoxic effects.
